Keep Showing Up: Sowing in Tears, Reaping in Joy
Share
There are days when showing up feels like the hardest thing to do. You put in the hours, you give your best, and yet the ground seems dry. No signs of growth, no fruit—just toil. It’s easy to wonder, Is it even worth it?
But Scripture reminds us of a deeper truth:
“Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.” — Psalm 126:5-6
This is a promise. Not a possibility, not a maybe—but a certainty. The tears, the struggle, the unseen effort—they are all part of the process. And if we keep showing up, if we keep sowing, the harvest will come.
The Principle of Sowing and Reaping
God has woven the principle of sowing and reaping into the very fabric of creation. Farmers don’t plant a seed today and expect a full harvest tomorrow. There’s watering, waiting, and weathering storms. And in the kingdom of God, the same principle applies.
Paul echoes this truth in Galatians 6:9:
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
The enemy wants us to quit in the waiting season. He wants us to believe the lie that our labor is in vain. But faithfulness—showing up even when we don’t feel like it—is the key to breakthrough.
Sowing in the Workplace
For those of us working day in and day out, whether in music, business, ministry, or any other field, this principle is crucial. Success doesn’t come from a single moment of inspiration but from consistent obedience. We don’t always see the impact of our work right away, but God does.
Think about Joseph. He was faithful in Potiphar’s house. Faithful in prison. And in time, he was lifted to a position of influence. What if he had given up when things looked bleak?
When we labor with integrity and excellence, even in obscurity, we are planting seeds that God will bring to life in His perfect time.
The Tears Are Not Wasted
Psalm 56:8 tells us that God collects our tears in His bottle. He sees the sacrifices, the disappointments, and the prayers whispered in exhaustion. Not a single tear is wasted. They are watering the ground of our future harvest.
If you are in a season of sowing in tears, take heart. The promise still stands: You will reap with shouts of joy.
So keep showing up. Keep sowing. Keep trusting. Because the God who called you is faithful, and the harvest is coming.
